Hey there! I’m Hannah, a staff writer at The Atlantic who covers culture. You can find all of my Atlantic writing—things that range from sports features to romantic-comedy close reads to interviews with authors, directors, and musicians—here. Before joining The Atlantic in 2018, I was the special projects editor over at The Ringer, where I produced editorial packages like this in addition to regularly editing pop-culture pieces and sometimes writing my own. And prior to that, I wrote about culture and style for BuzzFeed/BuzzFeed News.

My essays and reporting have also appeared in publications including the New York Times magazine, New Yorker, Bon Appétit, and Pitchfork. More on that here and here. I’ve written short stories for the Lifted Brow literary journal, Spook magazine, and the Addis Ababa Noir anthology. In 2020, I helped edit Ida B. The Queen, a dedication to the pioneering journalist written by her great-granddaughter Michelle Duster, and edited all five rap essays in the first round of Halfway Books publications.

These days I'm working on some fun new things, and continuing to think (obsess, perhaps) about connections across the African diaspora. If you'd like to chat about that, or any other work, here's how to get in touch.
